Registry Complete

Today Billy and I completed our registry, we registered at both Babies R Us and Pottery Barn Kids. It was so much fun, now that we know we are having a boy we could really get into the colors and themes. Our furniture is getting delivered tomorrow so it feels like things are really starting to come together. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will have a full blown nursery. We can't wait to post pictures to share with everyone!

ITS A BOY!!

We found out early this morning that our little peanut is a boy! We could not be more thrilled to get the news. Unfortunately we had to stay the night in the hospital last night and continue on with our testing to make sure baby and I are OK.
It turns out that the injections I was getting were elevating the levels of my liver which is very rare but of course happened to me. :) Fortunately there was no problems with the baby and they changed my medication. We are home now, exhausted but doing great. I will keep everyone updated but hopefully we can just move forward with the planning of our little one and stop worrying about our health for a while.

Nursery Furniture

Today Billy and I went and ordered our nursery furniture. We picked out a beautiful crib and matching dresser/changing table and as a gift Danita and Dennis purchased it for us. We are so lucky to have received such an amazing gift, we still can't believe it! The furniture will be delivered on Friday and hopefully I will be able to post some pictures soon.

Thank you again Romero Family, we can't thank you enough!!!

Medical update

Billy and I spent another exhausting day between the hematologists office, the hospital and several pharmacies but things we are slowly starting to settle in. The hospital confirmed that I do in fact have a blood clot in my lungs, we had been hoping that the ER was wrong. Now that we know, we had no other options but to commit to doing the blood thinners throughout the rest of my pregnancy and up until 6 weeks after the birth.

I gave myself the first injection on my own last night and although I was dreading it, I have to say it was not as bad as it could have been. This morning I took on the second one at work so I feel pretty good that I will adjust to them and it won't be an issue.

In the next few months I will be undergoing several different tests because the hematologist is concerned with why I developed this clot and wants to make sure everything is under control. Obviously there are several concerns and dangers with what what is happening and being on blood thinners during child birth but I am confident in my doctors and trust the information that they are giving me. They have been amazing through out this experience and I trust that they will do everything possible to keep the baby and I safe.

Insurance on the other hand I have other opinions about but luckily my company has been amazing and gone above and beyond to make sure I get all the medical treatment and medication I need.

Thank you everyone for you phone calls and messages, Billy and I appreciate all your love and prayers.

Love,
Katherine

Another trip to the ER

Well yesterday was an exhausting day for our family. I woke up feeling a little out of breath and some mild chest pain, not at all worried about it I went to work and went about my business. Around lunch time I realized that it was not getting any better and realized it was a little odd. I felt like I had sprinted up a flight of stairs when I had only been walking around the office. After work I called my OB to see if this was common with pregnancy, surprisingly she asked me to go immediately to the emergency room. Feeling like this was a little overboard I decided to trust my Dr and go to the ER.
I arrived at the hospital around 4:30 thinking I would be in and out in time for the corned beef and cabbage dinner I was truly looking forward to, that was my first mistake. The hospital was very nice but test after test became exhausting. Around 10pm I was told I have a blot clot and need to be treated with blood thinners. This means and injection every 12 hours for the next 3 months. Although I am not looking forward to giving myself injections in the stomach twice a day for 3 months I am very thankful that this was caught and is able to be treated. Luckily Baby Cummings and I are OK.
I had my first injection late last night and this morning I am off to see the Hematologist for the second one as well as a lesson on how to give myself the injections. I will keep everyone posted on how that goes.

Just a follow up

Yesterday was our monthly Dr. Appt and thankfully everything went great. We did not get an ultrasound this visit but we have an appt April 3rd for a detailed Ultrasound where they will look at how the baby is developing and to find out the sex of our little peanut. This will be a very exciting visit for us!
Right now Baby Cummings is just about 18 weeks and I am starting to feel little flutters at night. Our Dr says I will start to feel them everyday over the next few weeks and should be feeling more pronounced kicks around 25 weeks. I can’t wait for Billy to be able to enjoy them with me!
Also, I have been feeling much better lately. My medication has been cut back dramatically which is a great sign. I can’t be taken off it completely yet due to the fact that I am still very nauseous in the morning but hopefully I won’t have to take it much longer. Other than that, I am feeling great and look forward to the exciting months to come!
