Billy and I spent another exhausting day between the hematologists office, the hospital and several pharmacies but things we are slowly starting to settle in. The hospital confirmed that I do in fact have a blood clot in my lungs, we had been hoping that the ER was wrong. Now that we know, we had no other options but to commit to doing the blood thinners throughout the rest of my pregnancy and up until 6 weeks after the birth.
I gave myself the first injection on my own last night and although I was dreading it, I have to say it was not as bad as it could have been. This morning I took on the second one at work so I feel pretty good that I will adjust to them and it won't be an issue.
In the next few months I will be undergoing several different tests because the hematologist is concerned with why I developed this clot and wants to make sure everything is under control. Obviously there are several concerns and dangers with what what is happening and being on blood thinners during child birth but I am confident in my doctors and trust the information that they are giving me. They have been amazing through out this experience and I trust that they will do everything possible to keep the baby and I safe.
Insurance on the other hand I have other opinions about but luckily my company has been amazing and gone above and beyond to make sure I get all the medical treatment and medication I need.
Thank you everyone for you phone calls and messages, Billy and I appreciate all your love and prayers.
Love,
Katherine
Dennis and I will continue to pray for you and the little peanut. Just know you are loved and we are here to help in any way we can. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI heard about this from Rach last night... my thoughts are with both of you. But I am so optimistic - you are young, healthy and doing all the right things. Take care and if there is anything you need help with, let me know. I am happy to help!
